Important: The vehicle's cooling system is designed to use either Dex-cool coolant, which is red, or silicate-based coolant, which is blue. These two types of coolant are not compatible and should not be mixed. Even if the liquid from the cooling system is completely drained before filling with a new one, it is not allowed to switch to another type of coolant.
Attention! Do not remove the expansion tank cap on a hot engine and radiator. Hot liquid and steam can escape under high pressure.
1. Place a pan under the vehicle to drain the coolant.
2. Remove the expansion tank cap.
3. Remove the drain plug.
Attention! Store used coolant in a suitable container and dispose of with used oil. Do not dispose of used fluid down the drain.
4. Collect the liquid in the drain pan.
5. Remove all sludge and contaminants from the expansion tank. follow the paragraph «Expansion tank» in this section.
6. Install drain plug.
7. Add clean water to the expansion tank.
8. Slowly fill the tank so that the top hose of the tank is above the water level. This will allow air to escape from the cooling system.
9. Start the engine.
10. Let the engine run until the thermostat opens. The thermostat is open when both radiator hoses are hot to the touch.
11. Stop the engine.
12. Repeat steps 1 - 9 until the drain water is clean and free of coolant and rust.
Note: Do not use a mixture with a concentration of more than 60% antifreeze to 40% water. Above this concentration, the freezing point of the solution increases.
13. Fill the cooling system with a mixture of Dex-cool and water through the expansion tank. The mixture must be at least 50% antifreeze, but not more than 60% antifreeze.
14. Fill the coolant up to the MAX mark on the outside of the expansion tank.
