Removal procedure
1. Disconnect the wire coming from the negative battery terminal, and then disconnect the wire coming from the positive battery terminal.
2. Unscrew the nuts that secure the battery clamp.
3. Remove the battery retainer with nuts attached.
4. Remove the battery from the shelf.
5. Remove the ECM and bracket. See Section 1F1, "Engine Controls - 2.0 Diesel".
6. Remove the top cover of the engine fuse box.
7. Remove the retaining screws on the engine fuse box.
8. Remove the engine fuse box from the bottom cover.
9. Remove the retaining screws on the bottom cover of the engine fuse box.
Note: If necessary, the power steering oil pump can be removed to make it easier to remove the engine fuse box.
10. Separate the engine fuse box from the welded screws on the battery tray and bodywork.
11. Check the battery tray for cracks or damage.
12. Remove the battery tray bolts.
13. Remove the battery shelf.
Installation procedure
1. Install the battery tray.
2. Install the battery tray retaining screws.
Tighten
Tighten the battery tray screws to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
3. Install the engine fuse box.
Tighten
Tighten the lock nuts on the bottom cover of the engine fuse box to 10 Nm (88.5 lb-in).
4. Install the engine fuse box retaining screws.
Tighten
Tighten the locking screws of the engine fuse box to 10 Nm (88.5 lb-in).
5. Install the top cover of the engine fuse box.
6. Install the ECM. See Section 1F1, "Engine Controls - 2.0 Diesel".
7. Install battery.
Tighten
Tighten the lock nuts of the battery clamp to 4 Nm (35 lb-in).
8. Connect the positive battery cable.
9. Connect the negative battery cable.
