Removal procedure
Attention! To prevent injury, do not remove the radiator until the engine and radiator are cool.
1. Remove the decorative cover. See Section 1B, "Engine mechanical system - 2.0 Diesel".
2. Remove the charge air cooler inlet/outlet hoses. See Section 1B, "Engine mechanical system - 2.0 Diesel".
3. Drain the engine coolant. follow the paragraph «Draining and recharging the cooling system» in this section.
4. Remove the upper grille guide. Follow See Section 9R, Front Body.
5. Remove the bottom engine cover. Follow Section 9N, Frame and lower bodywork.
6. Discharge the air conditioning system, if equipped. Follow See Section 7B, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Control.
7. Remove the upper radiator bracket.
8. Disconnect the transaxle oil cooler line from the automatic transaxle, if equipped. See Section 5A, AISIN 55-51LE Automatic Transaxle.
9. Disconnect the upper/lower radiator hoses from the radiator.
10. Remove the A/C condenser inlet/outlet pipes from the A/C condenser, if equipped. Follow See Section 7B, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Control.
11. Remove the lower radiator bracket from the frame.
Attention! Be careful not to damage the radiator fins so as not to disrupt the cooling system.
12. Carefully remove the radiator and fan assembly from the vehicle to the floor.
13. Remove the radiator assembly.
14. Remove the oil cooler and transaxle line assembly, if equipped.
15. Remove the air conditioner condenser.
16. Remove the charge air cooler.
Cleaning procedure
Attention! NEVER spray water on a hot radiator. Escaping steam can cause injury.
Note: Radiator fins are used for the necessary heat transfer. Do not brush the plates. Because of this, the plates can be damaged and heat will be transferred worse.
Important: Remove insects, leaves, dirt and other deposits with compressed air from the side of the radiator facing the engine. In some cases, warm water and a mild detergent may be necessary.
1. Clean radiator cooling fins.
2. If there are damaged cooling plates, they must be straightened out.
Installation procedure
Attention! Be careful not to damage the radiator fins so as not to disrupt the cooling system.
1. Install the charge air cooler.
2. Install the air conditioner condenser.
3. Install the oil cooler and transmission line assembly, if equipped.
Tighten
Tighten the lock bolts of the charge air cooler to 8.5 Nm (75.2 lb-in).
Tighten the A/C condenser retaining bolts to 16 Nm (11.8 lb-ft).
Tighten the oil cooler and transaxle pipe assembly retaining bolts to 10 Nm (88.5 lb-in).
4. Install the heatsink assembly.
5. Install the lower radiator bracket to the frame.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts and nuts of the lower radiator bracket to 50 Nm (36.9 lb-ft).
6. Tighten the upper radiator bracket retaining bolts to 20 Nm (14.8 lb-ft).
