If the vehicle is equipped with a cruise control system, it is possible to maintain a constant vehicle speed of about 40 km/h without depressing the accelerator pedal. This greatly facilitates driving on long trips. Cruise control does not work below 40 km/h.
When the brakes are applied or the Q button is pressed, cruise control is deactivated.
If the traction control system begins to limit the wheel speed while the cruise control is on, the cruise control is turned off. You can turn cruise control back on when traffic conditions allow it to be used safely.
Caution: The use of cruise control can be dangerous where it is not possible to drive safely at a constant speed. Therefore, do not use cruise control on winding roads and in heavy traffic.
Using cruise control can be dangerous on slippery roads. On such roads, a rapid change in tire grip can cause excessive wheel spin, resulting in loss of vehicle control. Do not use cruise control on slippery roads.
Cruise control setting
1. To turn on cruise control, press the button located to the right of the steering wheel.
2. Accelerate the car to the desired speed.
3. Press the button "SET/-" and let go. The warning light on the instrument cluster panel will come on to indicate that the cruise control is on.
4. Take your foot off the accelerator pedal.
Caution: If cruise control is left on when it is not needed, accidentally pressing the button may cause it to activate. This can be unexpected and cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Therefore, be sure to turn cruise control off when you do not need to use it.
Recalling a stored speed value
Let's assume that you have set the cruise control speed to the desired speed, and then depress the brake pedal, or press the I button. This will, of course, turn off the cruise control. However, you do not need to set the cruise control speed again. After reaching a speed of 40 km/h or more, you can quickly press the button "RES/+".
Cruise control will return to the previously selected speed and will maintain it.
When holding the button "RES/+", the car will accelerate until you release the button, or press the brake pedal, or the I button. Therefore, do not hold down the button "RES/+", if no speed boost is required.
Increasing speed while using cruise control
There are two ways to increase the speed:
- To increase speed, press the accelerator pedal. Click the button "SET/-", then release it and the accelerator pedal. This sets the new cruise control speed.
- Click the button "RES/+". Hold it in this position until the desired speed is reached, then release the button. To increase the speed by a very small amount, press and release the button very quickly "RES/+". With this method, the speed increases by about 2 km / h. This acceleration method is only active after the cruise control has been activated by pressing the button "SET/-".
Slow down while using cruise control
There are two ways to slow down when using cruise control:
- Press the button "SET/-", until the speed drops to the desired speed, then release it.
- To decrease the speed by a very small amount, quickly press the button once "SET/-". After this action, the speed is reduced by about 2 km / h.
Overtaking another vehicle while using cruise control
To increase speed, press the accelerator pedal. The vehicle slows down to the previously set speed when the driver takes his foot off the accelerator pedal.
Using cruise control on slopes
How to use cruise control on hilly terrain depends on the speed and load of the vehicle, as well as the steepness of the slope. On long uphill grades, it may be necessary to use the accelerator pedal to maintain speed. On a descent, it may be necessary to use the brakes or downshift to slow down. When you press the brake pedal, of course, the cruise control turns off. For many drivers, this driving mode is inconvenient and they do not use cruise control on long slopes.
Turn off cruise control
There are several ways to turn off cruise control:
- Lightly press the brake pedal or the button, or the clutch pedal if the transmission is manual.
- Press the button on the cruise control panel.
Deleting the speed setpoint from memory
When the cruise control is switched off or the ignition is switched off, the set cruise control speed is not saved.
