When switching from R to another transmission, the video image is automatically hidden from the screen.
Warning: Rear view camera system (RVC) does not replace the driver's own vision.
The RVC system cannot:
- Detect objects that are out of the camera's field of view, under the bumper or under the car.
- Recognize children, pedestrians, cyclists and animals.
Do not back up using only the RVC screen, or use the screen when reversing long distances and at high speeds, or when other vehicles are likely to pass sideways. The distance estimated on the screen differs from the actual distance.
Warning: If proper care is not taken when reversing, a collision with another vehicle, child, pedestrian, cyclist, animal could result in vehicle damage, personal injury or even death. Even though your vehicle is equipped with an RVC system, be sure to carefully check the area behind and around the vehicle before reversing.
Switching on the rear view camera
Switching the rear view camera system on and off When the key is in the ON/START position and the driver shifts to R (reverse), by pressing the CAM key (Camera) the infotainment system displays a video image on the LCD screen.
Rear view camera location
The rear view camera is located at the rear of the car.
The field of view of the camera is limited and does not cover objects located in the corners and under the bumper. The displayed field of view may vary depending on the orientation of the vehicle and the condition of the road surface. Estimated distance from the image on the screen may differ from the actual distance to the obstacle.
If the system is not working as expected
The RVC system may not work properly, or the image it transmits may not be clear enough under the following circumstances:
- The RVC system is off.
- In low light conditions.
- Sunlight or the headlights of another car enter the camera lens,
- The camera lens is covered with ice, snow or mud. Clean the lens, rinse with water and dry with a soft cloth.
- The rear of the car was damaged in an accident. The position and installation angle of the camera may be misaligned, or the camera may be damaged. Check the serviceability, position and installation angle of the camera at the service station.
- There are sudden changes in temperature.
