If the car is equipped with a keyless entry system, there is a thin button on the remote control (A) near the bottom of the remote control, designed to remove the key.
Click the button (A) and pull the key out. Do not pull the key without pressing the button (A).
The key inside the remote control is used for the driver's door lock cylinder if the battery in the key fob is low or in an emergency.
If a new key is required, contact your dealer.
1. (lock up): Press once to lock all doors. The direction indicators will flash once, or a single beep will sound to confirm locking.
2. (Unlock): Press once to unlock all doors. The direction indicators will flash twice and the anti-theft system will disengage. In some countries, depending on the vehicle configuration, the driver's door must be unlocked by pressing the UNLOCK button once. Then, to unlock all doors, press the UNLOCK button again within 5 seconds. Interior lights may come on.
3. (tailgate glass): Press and hold for approximately one second to unlock the tailgate glass.
4. (Vehicle Search/Alarm): Press and hold for approximately two seconds to search for a vehicle. The direction indicators will flash three times and the horn will sound three times.
Keyless unlocking
Move the remote control closer than 1 m to the front door and press the button on the door handle to unlock and open the door. If the remote control is recognized, the door will unlock and open.
Attention: The button on the door handle is only for the keyless unlocking function. When you leave the vehicle, lock all doors by pressing the lock button on the remote control or make sure the keyless locking function is activated.
The ignition control knob can be turned to four different positions.
The remote control must be inside the vehicle when the ignition control knob is turned.
1: LOCK (LOCK, off)
2: ACC position
3: ON (INCLUDED)
4: START position
- Manual transmission: depress the clutch. Turn the ignition control knob to the START position (START), by depressing the clutch pedal and releasing the electric parking brake switch while keeping the brake pedal depressed when the engine starts.
- Automatic transmission: move the shift lever to position P (parking) or N (neutral). The engine will not start in any other position. To restart the engine on an already moving vehicle, only the N position should be set (neutral). If the vehicle is equipped with a keyless entry system, the brake pedal must be depressed to start the engine.
- Diesel engine: Turn the ignition control knob to the ON position to turn on the preheat until the W indicator goes off.
Turn the ignition control knob to the START position.
When the engine starts to crank, release the ignition control knob and it will return to the ON position.
If the ignition control knob does not turn, try pushing the knob in and turning it again.
If the remote control is not in the vehicle, or if something is interfering with the operation of the remote control, the driver information display (DIC) the message ELECTRONIC KEY NOT DETECTED will be displayed in the middle of the instrument cluster (ELECTRONIC KEY NOT DETECTED).
Keyless locking
The doors will lock after a few seconds if the ignition is off, all doors are closed and at least one remote control has been removed from the vehicle.
At self-service petrol stations, if the driver leaves the car with the remote control, all doors, as well as
the fuel filler hatch and tailgate will be locked after a few seconds. Press the button on the door handle or press the button on the remote control to unlock all doors, as well as the fuel filler and tailgate, during or after refuelling.
Programming remote controls on the car
Only remote controls programmed into the vehicle will work. If the remote control is lost or stolen, you can purchase a replacement remote and have it programmed by your dealer. The car can be reprogrammed so that lost or stolen remote controls no longer work.
Starting the car engine with a low battery in the remote control
If the remote control battery is low, the DIC display in the middle of the instrument cluster may show the message ELECTRONIC KEY NOT DETECTED (ELECTRONIC KEY NOT DETECTED), when you try to start the engine. To start the engine, place the remote control with the buttons up in the remote control pocket in the storage compartment on the center console. Then, with the shift lever in P (parking) or N (neutral), depress the brake pedal and turn the ignition control knob. Replace the battery in the remote control as soon as possible.
