Withdrawal procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the intermediate shaft from the column shaft by unscrewing the top pinch bolt. See «Intermediate shaft, hinge and front panel seal» in this section.
3. Disconnect the steering angle sensor connector.
4. Slide the steering angle sensor up to remove it from the mounting bracket.
5. Remove the steering wheel angle sensor by unscrewing it from the mounting bracket and sliding it down the column shaft.
Installation order
1. Slide the steering angle sensor up until it seats in the mounting bracket hole.
2. Install the steer angle sensor into the groove of the mounting bracket.
3. Connect the steering angle sensor connector.
4. Connect the negative battery cable.
5. If necessary, center the steering angle sensor after installing it. See «Centering steering angle sensor» in this section.
Centering steering angle sensor
1. Park the vehicle on a flat surface.
2. Perform wheel alignment. See section 2B, "Wheel alignment".
3. Place the steering wheel exactly in the middle position and turn on the ignition.
4. Connect the diagnostic tool to the vehicle's diagnostic socket.
5. Select the ESP menu, which is a submenu of the ABS system on the scan tool. And then center the steering angle sensor.
6. Check the centering of the steering angle sensor by turning the steering wheel more than 5 degrees to the left and right.
7. Check and clear DTCs related to steering angle sensor.
