Adjustment Procedure
1. Release the parking brake lever.
2. Raise and secure the vehicle.
3. Remove rear wheels. Follow Section 2E, Tires and wheels.
4. Remove the caliper, brake disc and hub. See Part 4E. "Rear brakes".
5. Remove the parking brake cable from the cutout on the brake shield.
6. Inspect all parts that may have deteriorated in strength or quality under stress or heat (color changed).
7. Adjust the shoe assembly by turning the adjusting nut clockwise to increase the diameter or counterclockwise to decrease it.
8. Install the caliper and disc assemblies. See Part 4E. "Rear brakes".
9. Install the rear wheels. Follow Section 2E, Tires and wheels.
10. Place the parking brake cable in the cutout of the brake shield.
11. While in the cab, pull the parking brake handle and stop when you hear two clicks.
12. By turning the rear wheel by hand, check if it brakes.
13. Release the parking brake lever.
14. By turning the rear wheel by hand, check for braking and, if necessary, re-adjust the cable.
15. Repeat the procedure for the second rear wheel and lower the vehicle.
