Removal procedure
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Discharge and pump out the refrigerant. See «Procedures for discharging, topping up oil, evacuating and charging the air conditioning system» in this section.
3. Unscrew the fastening nut of the exhaust hose.
4. Lift the outlet hose fixing block and the suction hose from the compressor.
5. Raise and secure the vehicle.
6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the compressor.
7. Remove drive belt and idler pulley. See section 6B, "Power Steering Pump".
8. Remove cooling fan. See section 1D, "Engine cooling".
9. Loosen the front and rear bolts securing the compressor to the bracket.
10. Remove compressor.
11. Drain the oil from the compressor into the reservoir. Measure the amount of drained oil. Then dispose of the used oil.
Installation procedure
1. Fill oil into the new compressor. Use exactly the same amount of oil as was drained from the old compressor.
2. Install compressor.
3. Tighten the bolts securing the compressor to the bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the front bolts securing the compressor to the bracket to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft) (FAM II 2.4D).
Tighten the rear bolts securing the compressor to the bracket with a torque of 23 Nm (17 lb-ft) (FAM II 2.4D).
Tighten the front bolts securing the compressor to the bracket with a torque of 50 Nm (37 lb-ft) (HFV6).
Tighten the front bolts securing the compressor to the bracket to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft) (VM2.0).
4. Install idler pulley and auxiliary drive belt. See section 6B, "Power Steering Pump".
5. Reinstall the cooling fan. See section 1D, "Engine cooling".
6. Install new sealing washers on the suction and exhaust hoses.
7. Connect the electrical connector to the compressor.
8. Lower the car.
9. Place the suction hose into its recess in the compressor and install the outlet hose retainer block to secure it in place. Hold it all together while tightening the mounting nut.
Tighten
Tighten the nut securing the outlet hose connection block to the compressor to a torque of 16 Nm (12 lb-ft).
10. Connect the negative battery cable.
11. Vacuum and charge the air conditioning system. See «Procedures for discharging, topping up oil, evacuating and charging the air conditioning system» in this section.
