The ECM applies 5V to the ECT sensor through the ECM resistor and senses the change in voltage. The coolant temperature affects almost all systems controlled by the ECM.
A fault in the ECT sensor circuit will set DTC P0117 or P0118. It should be borne in mind that the assignment of these DTCs means a failure in the ECT sensor circuit.
Withdrawal
Caution: Be careful when handling the coolant sensor. Damage to the sensor will disrupt the fuel injection system.
1. Depressurize the cooling system.
2. Disable «-» battery cable.
3. Remove the coolant temperature sensor connector (EATING).
4. Carefully remove the ECT sensor from the cylinder head under the ignition coil.
Installation
1. Coat the threads of the ECT sensor with sealant.
2. Install the ECT sensor in the cylinder head and tighten the sensor to 20 Nm.
3. Connect the ECT sensor connector.
4. Prime the cooling system.
5. Connect «-» battery cable
