The ECM uses the signal from the CMP sensor to determine the position of piston #1 during the power stroke. This allows the ECM to calculate the actual sequential operating mode of the fuel injection. If the ECM detects a CMP sensor signal mismatch with the engine running, DTC P0341 is set. If the CMP sensor signal is lost while the engine is running, the fuel delivery system will switch to the calculated sequential fuel injection mode based on the last injection pulse, and the engine will continue to operate. At the time of the error, the engine can be restarted. It will start in rated sequential mode with an appropriate injector ratio of one in six.
