Knock sensor

The knock sensor detects abnormal engine knock. The sensor is mounted on the engine block near the cylinders. The sensor produces an AC output voltage that increases as knock increases. This signal is sent to the engine control unit (ECM). The ECM regulates ignition timing to reduce knocking.

Withdrawal

1. Disable «-» battery wire.

2. Remove the intake manifold.

3. Disconnect the connector from the knock sensor.

4. Remove the knock sensor.

Installation

1. Install the knock sensor and tighten the fastening screw to 20 Nm.

2. Connect the connector to the knock sensor.

3. Install the intake manifold.

4. Connect «-» battery wire.
