1. Before checking the engine oil level, park the vehicle on a level surface and warm up the engine to operating temperature.
2. After stopping the engine, wait a few minutes for the oil to drain into the crankcase.
3. Remove the dipstick, wipe it free of oil and insert it into place until it stops.
4. Remove the dipstick again.
5. Check the oil level on the dipstick. The oil level must be between the MIN and MAX marks.
6. If the oil level is below the MIN·mark, add engine oil of the appropriate type. Excessive engine oil level can damage the engine. If the oil level is above the MAX mark, remove excess oil.
