The power steering pump on this vehicle is not serviceable. A defective pump must be replaced.
Withdrawal
1. Remove the clamp and air tube.
2. Remove the pump drive belt from the pulley by loosening the belt tensioner.
3. Disconnect the supply and pressure pipes from the pump.
4. Drain the working fluid into a container prepared in advance.
5. Remove the pump assembly by unscrewing the pump mounting bolts.
Installation
Installation is made in an order, the return to removal.
When installing, tighten the fasteners to the following torques:
- pump mounting bolts - 25 Nm;
- pump pulley screw - 25 Nm,
- fitting of the pressure line of the pump - 27Nm,
- tension roller screw - 25 Nm;
- alternator mounting screws (if unscrewed) - 20 Nm;
- screws securing the air cleaner housing - 12 Nm.
Fill reservoir with fresh hydraulic fluid (DEXRON) and bleed the system (see below).
Check system for leaks. If there is a leak, correct the cause and bleed the system again.
Note: When adding or completely replacing fluid, use only DEXRON II-D or DEXRQN III power steering fluid. Use of the wrong fluid may cause hose and gasket damage or fluid leakage.
