Warning. Dismantling and repair «clock spring» are not permitted and may result in personal injury or damage to the system. twisting «clock spring» (possible if the steering wheel is installed in the wrong position) can lead to a broken contact or, conversely, to short circuits in the switched circuits.
Airbag harness connectors
If the electrical connector of the display and diagnostic unit (BID) not properly connected, the jumper bar built into the connector will connect the airbag warning light wire to the BID ground wire, and the airbag malfunction indicator will turn on. The jumper rod is a backup safety mechanism. The same rods are provided in all connectors of the passive safety system, namely:
- driver airbag module connector;
- clock spring connector (at the bottom of the steering column);
- passenger airbag module connector;
- seat belt pretensioner connector.
